Fist egg ever ladi infertial ?

Hey ...I found this egg in my container today near the waste section of my geckos cage .

Im going to throw it away as it basicly looks like snot with white spray paint on it .

but im wondering why she didn't lay it in the water bowl or moist hide and if most first eggs from a female are like this ?

I've had 2 eggs from my female: one was perfect and was laid in the humid hide, the other was laid a couple of days later and was infertile for some reason and was soft and dented. She laid it outside carelessly. I think the female knows, if the egg is good or totally bad.

this one is hard like old toothpaste and stuck to the paper towel . Its also kinda long and skinny .

btw, If a mod comes by here can they please fix ladi to laid in the title ? thx

I have had females, lay eggs out of the lay box, every now and then. I find them too late, and they go bad. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I just hope that the females do know if they are bad or not, that would make me fell better, than knowing there are dead hatchlings inside the eggs, because I got there to late.

The embryos take quite awhile to develop, so when you find an egg that is bad inside of the cage, don't consider it as a dead hatchling.. it's not even formed.

Females do tend to lay outside of their cage when the eggs are bad, but they don't always necessarily lay in a water dish. We had one female just lay her two eggs outside of the hide, one was hard and dented, the other was pretty squishy. Then we had another female lay her two eggs outside of the hide, but the eggs got trampled on/squished by someone else (one was oozing out of one end and the other was dented and squishy within minutes).. never any eggs in the water dish, though *knock on wood*, so it's not necessarily scripture for them to lay them there.. All females are different
