Will heat tape work on glass?

I have never read up on it.

Yes, glass is a very good heat conductor!

Flexwatt and other heat tapes and cables are used for many projects, including heating flooring in bathrooms, and used on the back of a vanity mirror to keep from fogging when taking a shower. There are many safe uses for these products. Just make sure that you use caution when wiring/installing and use a thermostat.
