Floyd after his first week:

Floyd's about 8 weeks old now and I've had him for a week.

Here are a few pictures of him and his new home.

*The enclosure is a 18"X18"X24" Exoterra Terrarium. Yeah, I know, a long one would be better, but with Floyd as such a little guy, and the only resident, the current one is just great. And besides, the height allows for some more plants.

The three plants are succulents and don't need a lot of watering so they fit in perfect with the environment and are easy to maintain. Substrate is various natural rocks and slate.

I use a UTH and have full-spectrum bulbs for both plant maintenence and for keeping a day-night cycle going. The light is on a timer while the UTH always stays on maintaining 90 degrees at one corner and 74 at the opposite one. There are two hides both made out of rock with the larger, humid hide made from a hollow round piece of lace-rock stuffed with moist moss.

I use a simple flat thermometer that I move around the tank periodically to check on temps. Its simple, and accurate for both surface and ambient air temperatures.

This is my first go at a natural-looking setup, and so far I'm pretty pleased with its functionality, aesthetics, and ease of maintenance.

I'll be updating and modifying it, so feel free to throw out any suggestions if you got 'em.

Cheers :main_thumbsup:
