A little while back i posted a thread asking what was wrong with my leo. He had watery eyes and lost alot of weight. I had a water dragon that i purchased that had similar problems then died about 2 weeks after i got it. Had no clue what the dragon died from but now its confirmed-The dragon had mouth rot and it got passed to my leo. I dont know how being i always wash my hands or use the sanitizer before holding diferent reptiles. But, he got it. So i got some antibiotics and some flush stuff to clear his eyes and some parasite killer just incase. He said the 2 females are pretty unlikely to get the infection and that my little yoshi will more then likely come out of it all right. Im really glad to hear that:D

Ooops i completely forgot to mention we took him to the vet lol. Sorry about that. It was confirmed because the vet said he had mouthrot and the dragon had similar problems and had crusty lips. I dont know how he got it though...thats what confuses me....they had nothing shared and i always wash my hands before holding different reptiles. They were in the same room though. Could it be passed on just from being in the same room?

Well that would have to make it an airbourne disease, and I would suspect that all of your reptiles in that room would have the same problem if that were the case

Mouth rot (stomachitis) is a bacterial infection which is a symptom of some other primary systemic infection. It is not airborne.

What substrate are you keeing the repiles on? How do you sanitize/disinfect the water bowls?

Hmm...all my reptiles have their own bowls and everything. Nothing is shared among different species. My geckos are housed on this newspaper stuff. Its like tan newspaper with no print. Im pretty sure its called newsprint. I get it for free from the craft stores. And i rinse their bowls with water and use anti bacterial soap every so often.
