Found this frog in my basement...

Looks like a Wood frog, Rana sylvatica.

Google image searched it and yes I believe you're right 'cept maybe a juvie as he didn't have near as many colors on his back as the ones that came up on google. We put him back outside. Hope he does ok (and hopefully I don't run him over with the mower like the poor snake ). You're so brilliant

He'll do much better outside than in, they are VERY difficult captives.

I don't know how he lasted in our basement for so long. Hubby says he's seen him in there for about 3 weeks but has been unable to catch him. He was hanging out around the shower stall that our clothes washer drains into. I thought fo sure that would kill him, bleach and laundry soap and all that stuff, let alone how was he eating. Granted my rabbitry is in the basement so he might have been able to catch some of the little gnatty flies that come visit the rabbitry but it's by no means pest infested down there. He was pretty small. Coulda been just a tick bigger than a quarter. I'm glad he's back where he belongs esp. before the kids came home, or #1 son def. would have wanted to try and keep it.
