Found this in the incubator this morning, unfortunately it was very prem, so died. It only weighed 1 gram so it didnt have a chance Was just wondering what morph it is, looks very different to the other hatchlings.
Thanks. Im gutted because Ive never hatched one that looks that different. The parents are tremper albino eclipse (mother) and high yellow (father), so there must be some really interesting HETs in there.
Actually, pigmentation is one of the last things to develop, so very early preemies often look like mack snows, even though they are not. You likely had a high yellow het tremper that hadn't developed any pigments yet, especially if it was as small as only 1g.
Sorry you lost this little one. If they pip early or can't get out of the egg, there may be some sort of basic fitness issue you wouldn't wish to propagate in your lines, anyhow.
Thanks guys. Didnt know that pigment came last. I did think it looked a bit weird, with green (may look black on the photo) patterning on the white. My other two are doing really well, but for some reason I have an exact 50% success rate. In every batch of two, the first one that hatches seems to pop out prem and die. Or one of the eggs just doesnt hatch. Hopefully the other egg from this batch will hatch soon, and be successful as well
Sorry for my miscalculation, if I knew what the parents were in the OP's first post I wouldn't have so brazenly assumed it was a Mack without wondering. And thanks for the great information, Janece, pigmentation in the developmental stages is something I have not learned about yet.
This hatched this morning. From the same batch as the premature one which died. This one is really healthy though, but it has the same colouring, even though it has hatched. So it is not because the pigmentation hasn't formed, this one just is white. What morph do you think it is? I have no idea about the HETs of the parents. Its the most lively hatchling I have ever had, so I think it could be a very healthy little gecko
Def Looks like A mack snow. Do you happen to have pics of the parents? Also mack snow is a co dom morph so one of the parents would have to be a snow. They would not be het
Just been looking around, and I found loads of photos of "Tremper Albino Mack Snow" leopard geckos. Quite a few of them looked very similar to my female. Don't get me wrong, I am awful at genetics, but wouldn't mack snow over rule the albino gene as it is co-dominant and albino is recessive. I don't understand co-dominance at all. Help please Also, if I'm wrong, does my female look like a "Tremper Albino Mack Snow"?
Thanks in advance
