From 2 grams to 24 grams in a little over a month!

After the loss of one of my leos, my fiance came home with this little tyke on October 5th.
Here's a picture of her taken Oct. 5th, the day she came home. Awfully skinny at only 2 grams.

Aaaand....[drum roll]....here she is currently, at a whopping 24 grams, after having her just 6 weeks. I must be doin' something right!! She's turned into quite the little chubber. Actually, I'm not going to take all the credit because I truly believe that Cody's ProGecko gutload has a lot to do with the wonderful growth progress.

I'll go ahead and tell you... I had a little tyke like that... and she didn't make it. It was the saddest day in all my life as a leopard gecko breeder.

Wow that is great. I have only taken in one gecko from ***co lately. I don't know how her weight is doing but I do know she is eating well over 20 meal worms every other day. Hows that for a african fat tailed gecko. I will be at my moms on thanksgiving to weigh her in!

UPDATE: Laka is now tipping the scale at 36 grams! She came home on October 5th and was close to a fresh hatchling at only 2 grams so this will make her 2 months and 1 week old. Is 36 grams a lot for a 2 month old leo?? Is it possible that I have a giant here?

And a cute pose...She has become very sociable and has a personality of a dog wanting to be held all the time.

WOW! Good thing geckos don't wear shoes... you'd have to spend a fortune on those Nike Air's every couple of weeks! (My son went from a size 7 shoe to an 11 in 9 months, and only liked $100 shoes!)

How I "made" it? I don't know how you mean? I guess by feeding her well gut loaded meal worms and giving multivitamin suppliment every week along with calicium.
She's now eating full sized superworms.

She'll be exactly 3 months old tomorrow (1-5-08) and weighs in at an unbelieveable 44 grams.

Here she is hangin out around my neck this past week, she's a real mellow girl.

I'm not an expert on giants but I have heard that giants have a slowdown period and then get huge all of a sudden out of nowhere. Give it time and you might see a rapid change in the next coming months.:main_thumbsup:

There was a thread a while back on fast growing geckos. I pulled some numbers together and did some quick g/day calculations in excel.

Here was the winner of eight samples taken...
Okee Reps 20-Jun-2007 3-Dec-2007 166 days 84 grams 0.51 g/day

You came in second!
Tanga 5-Oct-2007 4-Jan-2008 91 days 44 grams 0.48 g/day

Wow that girls grown fast! Congrats on such a healthy gecko!

It get's even better, weighed her today and she's 48 grams and about 2 months & 1 week old, or 9 1/2 weeks old to be exact. Her rapid growth really surprises me though, as she only eats 1 superworm or 4 mealworms every other day.
Oh yeah, she's also nearing the 8 inch mark.
