Hi everyone! My name is Jeff, I live in Sarasota County, I'm active duty military, and I am a herpetofauna hobbyist. I just acquired a beautiful young adult pair of tangerine-phase leopard geckos with the intent of breeding them. My professional history with reptiles: in the early 80's I did reptile shows (and helped run the reptile house) for Sarasota Jungle Gardens. After leaving their employment I continued to provide free reptile shows to the community, mostly schools and vet clinics, using my own collection of mostly venomous snakes, including cobras (I was properly licensed and fully legal). I also did a lot of collecting in the field.

I got out of the reptile business years ago, but over the last few years I developed a strong pull to take up the hobby again, but small scale; I only want to care for and raise quality leopard geckos and interact with good, smart people like you :) But I need help and advice; in spite of my fairly deep experience with reptiles, I am a novice when it comes to leopard geckos, so I've done a lot of research and studying before acquiring my two beautiful little lizards.

I'm greatly impressed with this forum, and am looking forward to reading and learning more, and perhaps making some new friends too!

Jeff

Hiya, neighbor! I live in Sarasota county too :) Right on the edge of Port Charlotte and North Port :)

So funny story... Some guy was JUST talking about you at my work a couple weeks ago, and how Jungle Gardens isn't the same with out you. That's funny :p

What was your favorite venomous snake to work with? I must say, the gaboon vipers are quite the eye catchers-- ugly, but they have awesome patters :p

Welcome to GF, Jeff. It's hard to walk away from something you're passionate about. I think you'll find breeding Leos very rewarding.
