Fruit for Gecko?

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with feeding fruit to their gecko and if this was a good or bad idea. I have heard of some people feeding things like banana and watermelon to their gecko and the gecko liking it. Any thoughts or experiences ?

Leopard geckos are insectivores and cannot digest plant and fruit matter. You might be thinking of crested geckos, another popular beginner gecko in the reptile trade.

Just wanted to add though, that I have heard of some insectivorous geckos occasionally being observed licking fruit and honey in the wild and in captivity, ostensibly for the sugar content, but not eating it. I've never heard of leopard geckos doing this, however.

Can they digest peas and carrots? I put those in the bowl with my mealworms inside my leos cage, and have witnessed him gobbling up (by accident) a veggie or 2! Is this bad for him?

One or two accidentally? Probably not. But using veggies and fruits as an addition to their diet would be a poor decision.

Ya that's what I thought. Just wanted to check with the people who know best. I just know someone who was telling me their gecko ate watermelon and banana so i figured i would double check.
