im looking for lamps to show off my leos at shows..

considering differnt types of bulbs to help them look better.

From what i read full spectrum makes things more colorful or rather shows all the potential color of something (i think)

does these bulbs produce heat?

or should i go LED, florescent or incandescent?

I'd also look into bulbs that have a Kelvin temperature range of 5000 - 6500k. 6500k is roughly noon daylight. Also look for bulbs in said range with a high CRI (color rendering index), the higher the number, up to 100 scale, the better. Europe has some 6500k bulbs with a CRI in the 90s. GE makes a daylight bulb (6500k) with a CRI of 75. Their chroma 50 bulb has a 5000k temp with a CRI of 90.

You could do halogen, but the problem then becomes temperature related, i.e., cooking/over heating the geckos if within a very confined space. Never mind that most expos are already freaky hot within the given convention space due to heating of the herps and the body heat from expo patrons. I'd go cfl or tube fluorescent if you can. LED is also an option, but the difficulty with LED is getting an evenly diffused light.

At shows when I have geckos in displays, I use daylight bulbs to show their true coloration. It's not as good as natural sunlight, but it's very close.
