Sorry if I posted in the wrong place. My girl is a healthy 5 y/o gecko. She lives in a 10g tank w/a bottom heater, her substrate is paper towels. So she used to be able to shed w/no issues, but now that has changed. She never uses a humid hide so I made her one just for when she sheds and I leave her in there for about an hour. She has had problems w/her toes (she lost a couple tips), now I have to take care of her toes. The big issue now is her eyes, she keeps them closed all the time. When she opens them they look absolutely fine, no gunk coming from them or cloudiness. I tried to gently massage her closed eyes w/a wet q tip and a couple black pieces of skin came off. Idk what to as I am super worried. She still eats and hasn't lost any weight. Her poop is normal. What can I do?

Do you have a light over her tank? If so remove it the light is most likely bothering her eyes. And is she an albino? Albinos are especially sensitive to bright light. If you still need a light over her tank, then try a night red or a night blue. Since they are night time bulbs they should be less powerful and won’t bother her eyes as much.

Also could you post a picture if you’re not sure if she’s an albino?
