Gecko gnawed on toes

I just got home today from Chicago and I checked on my geckos and found out one had gone into shed but and I'm going to guess what happened was it was trying to get its shed off its toes and gnawed down on two of its toes. The toes are still their but they are red. This goes to show that you can't even leave for 24hrs with out the possibility of something going wrong with your animals.:( The little fella still can walk around on it but still it hurts me to know that this happened. What should I do about this? Has anyone else had this kind of problem?

I will just keep his environment dry and clean, he'll heal on his own. I have seen some of my geckos get impatient when shedding, and they do chomp down hard at times. So I usually help them out if they're not done in a couple hours or so.

(Yes, I know I'm a over protective mom...)

I think if you just keep it clean and dry, it'll heal on its own. If you're really worried about infection, you can put some anti-bacterial ointment on it.
