Description:

Okay! So Tiger Lilli isn't eating. Hasn't for about two weeks. I had never fed her wax worms before because I know they're fatty and can be addicting, but I wanted to try to get her to eat! So, two nights ago I was able to convince her to eat two wax worms and a mealie, but that's all she has eaten for two weeks. I do believe she is drinking, but I haven't seen it with my own eyes. Her tail is visibly thinner and she has lost the fat store in her armpits.

She is acting nearly the same, though! The only difference is that when she *did* eat those wax worms and the mealie it wasn't with her usual pounce- it had no gusto, no "umph." She just very boredly, lazily lapped them up. In fact, she seems to be more curious and walks around her cage quite a bit during our normal feeding time like she's waiting for food, but when I offer it to her she won't eat it! Two days ago, a stink bug landed on the outside of her cage without me knowing. I heard a light *thud* and looked at where the noise came from, and it was her trying to eat it! What the crap? It's very confusing.

The only two things I can think of is that maybe it's the time of year? I've tried to maintain the temperature in her cage, but maybe she's going into hibernation/brumation mode? Or, maybe, she's eaten this larger size of mealworm in the past, but normally I feed her the smaller ones. Maybe now she has decided she won't eat the bigger ones? That doesn't explain not eating more wax worms, though...

While there could be something going on it may be normal and nothing to worry about. One of my sub-adult gals recently stopped eating on 9/20. I monitored her weight and while she did lose 3 grams she started eating again on 10/10. She wasn't interested in mealworms for the first week but the fast moving crickets really got her going! Now on 10/30 she's eating mealworms like everyone else and back up to the weight she was at before her hunger strike. I'm attributing it to the cooler temperatures and shorter days but maybe she just needed a super long vacation from everything!

Thanks! That makes me feel better. I think I will pick up some crickets for her today or tomorrow. She's never had them before. Maybe they'll peak her interest!

I would invest in a digital food scale so you can weigh her once a week and monitor her weight. If she continues to loose weight a vet visit would be a good idea.
The cool weather and shorter days can effect them but they should not loose weight quickly during this period. For instance when I brumate my corn snakes and BP's for a few months, they usually don't loose any weight at all. If they do its a very small amount. I don't cool my leos but I would assume the same would apply for them.

Well I've heard that leos who have fat stores in their armpits are TOO fat. Leos can get obese too. Personally my leo has never had any fat bubbles in her armpits. I feed her mostly Dubia Roaches and mealworms once or twice a week as a treat. Maybe she's just too fat? Maybe she's not.. Can't tell since there aren't any pics, and I'm by no means an expert. just tossing out a suggestion, but I say if you REALLY ARE worried about her, then have a fecal done and see what's up.
