Does anyone know why my gecko seems to be shaky when he walks? This is not his usual state. Does he need to go to a vet?

Have you been keeping up with its calcium? If it is MBD you should take it immediately before it gets serious.

What I meant was it could be an early symptom but if he is keeping up with the calcium I wouldn't worry about it.

Agreed, shaking is often a precursor to the more serious symptoms of MBD. Take a close look too for swollen or rubbery-looking limbs. What supplements do you use (calcium/D3/multivitamin?) and how often? What are the temps in his tank? Is he eating/drinking/pooping well? We've dealt with a couple of cases of MBD, and had friends who have as well, all for different reasons: lack of UV (cresties), improper supplementation, and temp problems (they don't digest properly if the temps are too low, and if temps are too high, they may avoid the warm spot -- same problem.) If you can post the info I mentioned above, it'll easier to help!

I also have a shaky gecko ... He eat really well ... poop well (each day) drink water ... (there a water bowl in his cage ... I don't know if he drink) he's always hidden in his humid hide ...

There's a blacklite + solar lamp and a UVA+UVB neon .... also a eat pad under the tank ... Temp is between 91 - 94 degree near the lights ... so around 88 - 91 in the tank ...

cool side is at around 77 degree ...

there's always a pot with calcium + vitamin in the tank where i put crickets + worm so they have calcium and vitamin on them ... also mix the crickets with calcium in a bag when i buy them ......

thats it .... Is this OK ... do you need something else ... Am I OK ...

gecko is only about a month old ... it's a little baby

thanks :! I a bit scared about him right now ...

forgot something ... he's acting like that since ive changed the UV light (exo-terra 5% UVA/UVB) for the slim UV NEON .... Ill try to put back the light for a week to see ... maybe he's aggressed by the neon ....

If you have too much light on your cage your gecko might be accumulating eye damage and is unsure of what its seeing so thats why it walks shaky. This is for SpOuK btw.

Try shutting off all the lights and leaving them off (most Leos do not like bright lights of any kind-if you must use a light-use a small wattage red bulb)
If this keeps up any longer-I would bring him/her into see a vet
Shaking in a baby Leo is usually not a good sign at all
good luck with him/her

I hope dmkfrantz is still checking these messages. Is your leo doing any better? How old is it? If it's young and the proper steps are taken, the MBD can be halted and reversed, correct?
SpOuK-3- how is your gecko?
