So I got him sunday it is now Saturday. I was hoping this was enough time for him to settle in. I try to pick him up nd just have him lay on my hand nd just have him go on my hand on his own. He doesnt understand but sometimes he will sit on my hand when I get him for a minute but he is way to jumpy. He is a juvie and so I guess his young and doesnt know but I see everyones leopard gecko just so chill and relaxful. What do I do? I dont want to tank him out of his cage to hold him because im scared of how jumpy he is that he will fall to the floor :(

How old/big is he? When they are young they are like that. They are easy prey when they are small so they have to be like that! He should calm down as he gets older.

^^ yep. Was it your post about "biting too much?" one of my Leo's is about 3 months old (??...petstore), and I have had him for 2 months. He has always been somewhat calm, never bit at me, and he began to crawl onto my hand this week. I think this was a FAST-response. :)

They tend to be quite jumpy as youngsters. Try letting him run from one hand to the other, like stair climbing ,until you feel like you are in control. Do this in his tank close to the floor of his cage. Next: set on the floor, and continue the hand to hand climbing. If he gets too agitated, put him back, and do it the next day.
Once they feel comfortable with you, you will notice that they will start running from hand to hand toward you, instead of away. That is when, the body climbing starts..HAHA!! It takes time and patience. Work with him everyday.

Yeah, i forgot to mention that.^^ Even though he is just now to the point where is isn't "jumpy" and "fleeting", I always offered my hand before manually picking him up. ......and then I did the "hand-to-hand" because he would constantly try to walk away.

But now he will walk onto my hand, up my arm, and around my chair after I sit down. He doesn't RUN away, but he will try to slowly wander calmly. If he gets too close to the top of my chair I put him back in my lap and let him crawl around again. Then I let him crawl onto my hand, put my hand in his tank, and encourage him to crawl from my hand back onto his tank-floor.

About 11:30pm each night, he is usually STARING at me and seems to want me to let him out. I feel loved...lol

Some are like that. My wife's leo want's nothing to do with anybody. Atleast they usually calm down with age. Most are never "lovey-dovey" but eventually they calm and tolerate being handled better.

^^^ Video of my boy, Smoke. I got him in November during Thanksgiving from a petstore. He was kinda mild (compared to others we have), but we have worked on our relationship to get to this point..... :D

Just remember not to force it. See how at the beginning of the video...I offered to let him sniff my finger...and then I put my hand/fingers firmly and still. This lets them check you out. Do this for a couple weeks only around feeding time (because you don't want to bother their cage unless you have a reason you are already opening it). Then slowly work up to picking up your leo and carefully slowly letting it wander from hand to hand.

At this point it will start to trust your hand in the cage and semi-trusts you when holding him...but he will probably still try to run when you reach for him.

After a couple weeks of this, he might not be so jumpy when you reach for him.

Then lastly comes the "im bored...get me outta here" :)
