My gecko Loki had a semi-loose stool yesterday and a loose one today, temps have been between 92-93. If it continues I will making a vet trip but I was wondering.... I switched from feeding crickets to just mealworms for the past 3-4 days, I bought some dubia and didn't want to buy more crickets, so I was feeding all three of them on mealworms until my roaches arrived, could the sudden change in food maybe cause this?

sudden change in diet can upset the digestive tract especially if its used to only one type of food.
is he still eating?? and is the pooh still relativly normal ie no blood or excess mucus.
if hs still eating then I would just make sure hes hydrated and if it dosnt improve in 3-4 days then take him to a vet.

Yeah he is still eating, I have used crickets as a staple since I first started keeping leos 3 years ago, I have always given mealworms for variety but not for entire meals, he is still eating like a pig as he always has, and is still active and there was no blood or anything. I think I am going to go get some crickets today so I can just ease him into any new feeders I give him. I am planning on taking him to the vet after the holiday if he isn't improving.

things like tummy upsets can be caused by many things such as diet change, stress ect. its good hes still eating so i wouldn't worry too much for a few days. i find some of mine get up set if they eat too many locusts as they are quite juicy i guess lol

Well he moved cages about a week ago, but he took the move really well since he had all of his same hides and everything, I went ahead and just got him some crickets today, the dubia should be here today or tomorrow but I think maybe I will get his tummy lined out before trying the roaches. He has always had mealworms here and there for variety, but never as a staple. Now one of my other ones went for the mealworms and now will not even entertain the thought of eating a cricket.

I would definitely be inclined to think it's diet related. With all of my herps, I find a sudden change (i.e. from one feeder to another) without a transition (i.e. feeding a mix of old and new feeders) will cause a change in stool consistency. However, as mentioned, if you continue to feed solely mealworms, then your gecko should adjust to the new diet within a few days.

Well I hadn't planned on switching so abruptly, but I didn't realize how low on crickets I had got. So yesterday I went and got a few more crickets to put in the mix, last nights didn't seem to be as loose as the one before. I think it was just diet change but I will be keeping an eye on him.
