What do you guys do who live in hurricane prone areas if you're not evacing or to be prepared if you do? We've got water, paper towels, food covered for them, but I don't know what to do about short term living for them.
deli cups for short stay/travel? How long can they be ok in deli cups?
shoebox bins for backup?
heat or cold packs? both?
I'm sort of blanking on this one so any help is great.

I'm not so sure about what to do for a hurricane as we haven't ever had to deal with something like that but I do know we've kept our geckos in deli cups for 2-3 days due to shows and moving. I would keep some cold/warm packs handy just in case. If you're planning on being gone for longer, depending on how many geckos you have you could put them in the smaller 6qt bins so that you can feed/water them easier.

Good luck! :)

When you buy the shoe boxes, get the lids and save them. Keep them in there for a while and maybe get a generator (small one) that is powered by fuel. I dont really know about the whole hurricane thing, I live in Pa.

I've been thinking about this as well because I might move back to South Florida. My collection will likely be 100+ by then so it'd be crazy having to box them all up... What do all the Florida breeders here do?

We have thought and thought and hope nothing happens. We live in Orlando so its not on the coast and we pray we don't get hit badly. We used to live in fort pierce on the east coast. If you take all three hurricanes that happened 4 years ago (Jeanne, frances, and the other) and chart their paths. Where all the lines intersect that was our town. We got slammed and had to rebuild our entire house. If it did happen I would not evacuate I hate doing that. I would stay and hope they all do fine. They can be without heat for awhile and its not like its getting cold in florida during hurricane season. You might lose eggs but you can only do so much. If I had to leave.... Lets just say I wouldn't They couldnt make me.
