Geckos not using humid hide.

I've had my two females for about 2 or 3 months, and while I have seen them both in their humid hide at one point or another, Whenever it comes time for them to shed, they do not use it. I use a tupperware container with spaghnum moss, I take the spaghnum moss and wet it under warm water then squeeze all the water out, this seems to make it stay moist much longer than spraying it. So, my question is: How, if there is any way, do I encourage them to use the humid hide when they are shedding? I have tried repositioning it and they are both well aware of its existence. Every time they shed they get stuck shed on their legs and head. Then I have to give them warm baths and proceed with the tedious task of rolling it off with cutips and pulling it off with tweezers.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

They might not need it, not all of mine seem to care about the wet hide and I have had zero shed problems. Just let them have it as a option and they will use if the need. It is possible that one girl is keeping the other out, so I would recommend two moist hides just in case. But, if they shed fine you probably don't need to worry about it.

Location of hide? cold, middle or warm side? Is it closed up enough (some really like to hide and not be seen) enough space to fit in comfortably?

I've had it on the warm side, but after months of them never using it properly I moved it. It's definitely big enough, with a square hole cut in the side, I know some people do a hole in the top, however the one i use is too tall for that so i did a hole in the side. It's not a big hole though :main_huh:

Maybe move it to the center so that it will not be too cold or too hot. Some don't like being seen so if it's a see thru color, I would replace it with a dark one or you can buy a 3 in 1 cave like I have but it's a bit costy. Worth it tho. They seem to love it.

my gecko has a moist hide with a see through lid so I cover the see through bit with whatever substrate she is on like repticarpet because she likes to hide and not be seen when she is in the moist hide, so you could try that. My gecko doesnt like to be seen or exposed while she is shedding, so it might be they are trying to hide and the moist hide is too exposed.

I'll consider and try both of these things but i can say I've witnessed both of them out in the open shedding by rubbing themselves on the outside of their hides.

Maybe they dont like the substrate that is in the moist hide? Just another example from my gecko, she hated moss but loved vermiculite...now we just use paper towel though because she started to eat the vermiculite so we took it out.
