How common are parasites in geckos? I always seen posts about how people's geckos might have them or to go to the vet to check them out. Is it common for a gecko to get them once or twice in their life and does it happen to every gecko? Where do they come from and what can you do to aviod our little buddies from getting them? Thanks!

Parasites are most common in wild-caught reptiles, but any living creature is suceptible to becoming infected.
The BEST way to prevent parasitic and bacterial infections in our geckos is to:
- avoid buying geckos from pet stores or bulk gecko mills!
- quarantine each and every newly acquired reptile for a minimum of 30 days
- have a veterinary fecal check on any newly acquired reptile
- house geckos individually in as stress-free an environment as possible
- be fastidious with keeping their enclosures and water bowls clean
- keep your feeders clean... especially crickets
