Genetic eye trait question....

I have seen a few leos and have hatched a couple myself that have noticeably large eyes. Other than the large eyes they seem perfectly healthy. Has anyone seen/hatched any with similar characteristics/defects?

Its obviously genetic, as the couple I've gotten came from the same male, and most likley a recessive trait. I still have them and will hold onto them until I can figure out whats going on. Any ideas/suggestions?

It's commonly referred to as "bug eyes". It is genetic, but I don't think any one has gone to great lengths to figure out how it works. That would be because it's not something that should be bred for at all. Any "bug eye" geckos should be strictly pets.

Is there any reason the bug eyes are not ot be bred? It could be the hot new thing like enigma/associated with neurological symptoms or the telescope goldfish. :p Not saying that I personally would ever want to breed them, but others might.

I don't think physical mutations should be bred for. Enigma is a bit different than large eyes, imo, because the gecko is still physically the same as any other gecko. I feel about bug eyes much like I feel about tail kinks. Just my 2cents.

If you ask me, Enigmas should not be bred either.

i wasnt sure how people viewed that trait, I understand now. The only problem with having certain genetic flaws show up is giving them to someone who wont use them for breeding. Especially higher end geckos. I usually keep them or give them to friends.

Thanks for the info/insights!
