Hey sorry for the n00b questions, but I am wondering what determines the differences between all the albino morphs out there. I have an albino leo and would like to know more about them. Thanks.
Here are a couple pics of sketch from above. I am also interested in knowing what the difference between the different types of albino morphs out there are.
Trent, where did you get your albino? That could help determine which strain it is. I believe it is probably a Tremper.
There are 3 strains of albinism so far in Leopard Geckos. The first and most abundant would be the Tremper (Texas) strain, which are characterized by light eyes and generally have more brownish markings. The second strain is the Rainwater (Las Vegas) which tend to have slightly darker eyes, lighter markings, and less patterning on the head. The third strain is the Bell (Florida) strain which are characterized by their pink eyes and more maroon coloring. All three strains are true albinos, but are genetically very different.
Marcia, I got him as a rescue from someone how got him from a local pet store here in wisconsin. He actually seems to be getting more brown recently, but not really as dark as I have seen other. He also is still getting color back from being so malnourished when i first got him. Thank you for the great explanation on the difference between the albino morphs. That is exactly what I was looking for.
Michael, thank you for the comment! I am located in South Western wisconsin. About 45 min south west of madison. Right around the Platteville area if that helps any.
