i know genetics but leopard gecko genetics arent my bright spot. what will i get if i breed a aptor to a normal? and are all aptors het for raptor? like is the raptor the super form of an aptor? should i not waste my time breeding aptor to normal and just pick up another aptor?

First lets define APTOR and RAPTOR.

APTOR is a combination morph consisting of the following traits:

Tremper Albino - Recessive

Patternless Stripe - This is a combo of Stripe and Reverse Stripe. The genetics behind stripes do not seem to be fully understood, but they are generally regarded as "acting recessive". For our purposes I will treat Patternless Stripe as two recessive traits.

Orange/Tangerine body color - Polygenic

RAPTOR is a combination of the following:

Tremper Albino - Recessive

Patternless Stripe - "Recessive" (see above)

Eclipse - Recessive

Orange/Tangerine body color - Polygenic

As you can see, APTORs/RAPTORs are combination morphs, not morphs arising from a single mutation. For this reason I really dislike the term "het RAPTOR", as it is confusing and misleading. When you see an "APTOR het RAPTOR", what it really means is "APTOR het Eclipse". Similarly, an "Eclipse het RAPTOR" is actually an "Eclipse het Tremper Albino and Patternless Stripe", or possibly a "Patternless Stripe Eclipse het Tremper Albino". All are being labeled "het RAPTOR", but the term means different things in each case. The term "Super" is generally used to denote the homozygous form of a Codominant or Incomplete Dominant trait, such as a Mack Super Snow. There are no Codom/Incomplete dom traits involved in an APTOR, therefore a RAPTOR is not a "Super APTOR".

APTORs are typically het for Eclipse because they usually arise from Eclipse/RAPTOR breeding projects, but they do not have to be. If you do not know whether your APTOR is het Eclipse you can easily find out by test breeding to an Eclipse, APTOR het Eclipse, or RAPTOR.

For the purpose of your proposed APTOR x Normal pairing, I will assume that your APTOR IS het Eclipse, and that the Normal in question has no unknown hets.

The offspring of the pairing would be:

100% "Normal" het Tremper Albino, "het" Patternless Stripe (actually "het" Stripe and "het" Reverse Stripe), 50% possible het Eclipse, and with varying levels of Tangerine influence to the body color. You may also see some Stripe, Reverse Stripe, or Patternless Stripe influence, depending on the genetics of your Normal.

If your goal is to create more APTORs and/or RAPTORs, picking up another APTOR, RAPTOR, or Eclipse het Tremper will be the fastest way to proceed.
