Getting a bit annoyed...

Maybe I should be more patient, but I'm getting a bit frustrated now. I purchased two crested geckos from someone over a month ago. He couldn't ship right away because of bad weather. I get that. It started to warm up there, but then he went on vacation for two weeks. He got back on Sunday (over a week ago), but didn't contact me until I sent him a message asking about them. He took awhile to get back to me so they couldn't ship last week. We agreed on shipping for today.

I hadn't heard from him, so I sent him a message. He replied that he needed my zip code (I sent my address multiple times) and that he'd ship today still. Then I get another message saying that he has to go somewhere and won't be able to ship until tomorrow.:main_angry:

I'm someone who likes to plan my days and UPS/Fed Ex doesn't deliver here until noon. My daughter is home from school at 3. That doesn't leave me a lot of time inbetween to get things done.

Do I have a right to be a little angry? I feel like he's blowing me off. He didn't even tell me that the one had shedding issues and lost some toes until after I paid. I felt bad for it and decided to take it anyways. I thought he was a decent breeder, but now I'm wondering...

I would be wary especially after the losing of the toes issue coupled with the lack of communication. Did they offer to give your money back for the gecko that now has no toes? A replacement?

He said I didn't have to take it, but also told me that it was from someone watching them while he was out of town. They weren't keeping the humidity up. The parents of the gecko are really nice, so that's why I wanted this one.

But wasn't he only gone for two weeks? Would low humidity really cause that many problems in such little time? I don't know much about cresties myself, but that doesn't really sound right to me..

I would be pretty pissed to say the least. Customer service and keeping people updated with what is going on is my number 1 priority. I CANT STAND people with poor communication skills when it comes to their own damn business. I mean, I understand being busy, but how hard is it to send a quick e-mail? How hard is it to run a simple search for the address someone provided, if you can't find it off the bat? I'm sorry that this person is giving you such a hard time my friend. I hope things turn out okay for you and your Cresties!!

This happened from another trip. Cresteds need a lot of humidity. It probably shed while he was gone and the other person wasn't spraying.

I'm really just annoyed with the lack of communication and the shipping delays. I have no problem with weather related shipping delays. Had I known he was going on vacation before I paid, I wouldn't have bought them.

kristi, i would be pissed by the whole shipping thing. i wouldnt be concerned about the missing toes. you could take the greatest care of any gecko and it could still lose toes cause of one bad shed. but again i would still be pissed over the shipping thing

i had an animal planned to go out last monday but as soon as i realized i wouldnt be in town i sent a message out right away and rescedualled for today

I would be annoyed. I try to understand that things pop up and things might slip someones mind but then again you have a business and should try your best to keep your buyer satisfied or at least updated on whats going on..

Thanks! I totally understand that things come up. I'm really trying to not be impatient, but I'm just getting a bad feeling. I also hate that I have to contact him to remind him and that he doesn't contact me first. I guess I just run things differently. I make sure to keep in touch a lot with my gecko sales. I would also state in my ad that the weather wasn't okay and that I was going on vacation. Actually, I wouldn't make an ad until I got back.

He had time to bump his ad up the Sunday he got back from vacation. I saw that Monday morning and contacted him. He didn't get back to me for two days saying he was so busy. I think that if you have time to update your ad, you have time to send a message saying that I'm back and find out a good shipping date.

Yeah, this is different from some minor scheduling conflict IMHO... the trouble with keeping in contact with him is enough to make me super angry about it.

I think that if this person let your shipping schedule slip their mind and your previous emails slip their mind and now their animals have bad sheds due to improper husbandry that they are telling you that they are irresponsible. 1+1=2. Everytime I have dealt with a vendor of any sort that shows this type of MO, I have been burnt. I am not saying you will be but there is a pattern developing here......

I just hope he ships tomorrow now with no new excuses. I didn't spend a lot on them, but money is money. I have not been scammed by anyone yet. I always try to look for good breeders and I thought he was. Maybe he is and something else is going on. I hope that's it.

A good breeder always tries to cater to the purchasers schedual. I miss meals to get geckos out on the day that best fits my customers..(lunch breaks lol) Shipping geckos shouldnt fit HIS schedual but YOURS. Ive always felt very strongly about this, as it seems to me as a online buisness its part of the deal so to speak.
You have every right to be pissed off. As Joe Dirt would tell the guy "Its not about you Its the CONSUMER"

I would give him one last chance to ship and then if he doesn't... "return my full purchase price" Bad things happen and people overextend themselves sometimes. I don't think it cool what they are doing, but they haven't done you dirty ... yet.

This is how I am, too. I have gone out to ship even when I have a million other things to do. The buyer's happiness is most important to me (besides the safety of the animal).

If he doesn't ship tomorrow, then I might ask for my money back.

He says he's shipping today. I really hope he does, and no, I wouldn't buy from him again.

He sent me a message last night saying 'do you want me to ship Wed for Thurs? Let me know. I'm flexible.':main_rolleyes:
