Hello! I’m new to the forum and have been thinking about getting a gecko soon, I was wondering which is best for beginners. I know that leopard and cresties are among the best along with gargs, but I want a forums opinion.

I have a leopard gecko. Do your research on whatever you choose. The Petco folder on leopards is wrong on several
points.

We have albino chocolate geckos. They are lovely, friendly critters. Given what we know now, I am going for green anoles next. Why? They are diurnal lizards that love to climb. Geckos are twilight creatures. They love to hide during the day. They dig. Green anoles can be trained, and they are awake and moving about when most people are - during the daylight hours. Just my 2 cents worth.

Okay, cool I’m not a huge anole fan, but i’ll look into chocolate geckos. although I’m planning on leopard or crestie, they sound sick.

I have a mental list for crested geckos, and know well what to do with leopards dirt substrate- not sand under any circumstance, I’ll probably do the Zilla tropical mix. And a 20-40 gal tank, insectivores. And with all reptiles, uvb, heat lamp, a hide, and calcium powder.
