I had this guy four about a month...
after serious aggression issues and his cleverness and knowing how to push the lid off (Mine didn't lock all the way)
I returned him but I feel bad.

Does anyone know about this species? I was thinking of maybe taking him back (He is still at the pet store after 4 months)
Any ideas on how to tame?

probably the same as any other reptile, just handle them everyday really
it's not that simple but that's basically it
-try not to handle forcefully
-sometimes after you take him out
-if he's fidgety to the point he almost or does hurt himself, just put him back for the day
-something i do, not sure if it works yet, trick them into walking onto your hand when taking them out of their cage, i'm hoping for that to lead to him just simply walking onto my hand on his own but its still good because you take him out in a calm manner
-make an area he can't escape from (depends on your house) and just let him walk around on you while you're sitting with him. long periods will help him get used to you. if he gets really stressed though don't do long periods until he's used to it

that's the best i can say really, it's mostly patience and consistancy

But you see he is a whiptail.
He bites, scratches, and uses that tail with force. I had welts from it.
That picture was the closest thing I got to ever holding him.
I tried doing the normal just hold everyday but it didn't work.

with your list of desired pets, I would not concern yourself with rehabilitating this guy ;) Chalk it up as a learning experience.
