Good news and bad news

Well I noticed at around 1am an egg I was looking forward to hatching was sweating and I could see parts of the gecko through the egg. I've been really exicted about this particular egg. Its clutch mate's egg was no good and it was the first egg I've got from a pairing with my special mystery boy, Mystic. Last year I hatched out a normal looking gecko from a pair of raptors, with solid black eyes. And ever since then he has grown to be quite the interesting looking gecko. I was hoping to test him out this year and see if I could produce a new morph.
Well now that your filled in on why I was looking forward to this egg hatching... here's the bad news.
After a few hours the egg still hadn't hatched. I was worried so I candled it and there was no movement even when poked at. I pipped the egg myself and the baby was dead inside. Ive been having issues with incubation this year and I think its got to do with my incubator, time to get a new one most likely. Out of like 15 eggs Ive only successfully hatched 2 this year. Which alone is bad news but this baby was awesome looking, so I felt sick when I saw the poor little thing dead.
The good news.. my special male (the dad) didn't disappoint me. This baby was fully formed, despite the fact that it was dead. Well just take a look for yourself. (also it had solid black eyes too, I tried taking a few pics, thought that I got some that showed up, and tossed the baby, but after I uploaded the pics, they didn't show up clear.)

Aww, I wonder what happened? :( Was a pretty little one. Shame it didn't make it, still odd. Was nice and chubby, well formed. Eh, no use pondering things we will never be able to explain. Sorry for you loss and the bad season.

From what I understood by looking it over, the little guy had too much to absorb. It was like there was double the normal amount of stuff inside the egg. Its tummy was full and there was still a lot of junk hanging from its tummy left to absorb. I cut that part off before taking a photo cause it was gross.

How disappointing. I knew you were really excited. Do you have any more that should be hatching from the same pairing?

I have 2 eggs that look to be good from the same male but a different female. He's being bred to 3 different girls. So hopefully we will get some more eggs before the season is over. And even if we don't, there's still next year.

Yep, the mom's the hyper xanthic snow female I bought from gecko babies.

Can I call dibs if you ever decide to let her go?;)

I fell in love with her when I first saw her for sale, and drug my feet :(

How's Foxy Cleopatra doing? I cant get her picture out of my mind! LOL...I dream of Cleopatra :p

LOL if I ever get rid of Cleo or Ony (hx snow) then I'll have to be out of my mind, or dead XD

Cleo is doing good, not breeding her this year though. During winter she went off eating right after I separated her from her mate. I guess she got depressed or something cause she had been doing great the whole breeding season. She got dangerously skinny during the winter and Im trying to get her weight back up now. I plan on worming her and the others too just in case that might be the problem. Don't think it is though since I haven't had any others with the same issue. Maybe someone told her she was fat. XD

sorry for the loss, things like that really are a bummer. Atleast you got some more on the way and will know they're going to be beautiful. Is your incubators temps fluctuating to much?

My incubator did well last year. I didn't have hardly any go bad. Maybe one or two. Its settings are still the same from last year. So I don't know what's wrong with it. I'm going to have to check.
