he everyone. ill share my good news first. I purchased a little leopard gecko off of CL today (don't worry, the geckos in my area never seem to be emaciated on CL ) they said it was a male, but she turned out to be a beautiful little girl. she is a super hypo tangerine carrot tail as far as I can tell, her orange puts Dinosaur to shame, she is upper sweet, she already ate 6 mealworms, and appears to be in pretty good shape! and I think that she is around 7-8 months old because she is small, and she still has some light juvie markings. I will try to get pics tomorrow, but I have lost my camera charger at the moment....
and now on to the terrible news. I am afraid that my little girl, Cheddar anne, has passed away. I have no idea what happened, and I feel terrible because I don't know if I could have prevented it somehow. here is a refresher if you don't remember: Cheddar is a rescue that my local reptile store asked me to take in because she was impacted, had mild MBD, was only 25-27 grams at 9 months old, and had strange mental issues (cross eyed, random fits of rolling and/or croking, and no coordination whatsoever) fast forward to this morning: she still had her mental issues, but was otherwise healthy. she weighed 52 grams now, and ate 5 mealworms only 8 hours ago. then I come into my room, and was checking temps before be and I find her in a heart breaking position. it actually startled me enough to make me scream. she was in her side in the corner of her tank, clinging to the upturned calcium dish. her eyes and jaw were clenched as tight as possible, and her mouth and the floor around it were layered in blood from her biting part of her tongue off. all of her toes were curled (clenched?) and her tail was halfway torn off in the middle. I feel terrible that she must have died so painfully, and that she did all of that to herself.... oh and her belly is almost solid black, only after a few hours of being dead (?) as she was not stiff yet....well now that is out of my system... thank you guys for rading this much. ill try getting pics of the new girl, and ill post pics of cheddar (post death) if you want to see her belly or something, but I wont put something that graphic up if you guys don't request it. good night.
ps. that is a rather old picture, she was not that thin recently
