good news, bad news

Well the good news is that we had another hatchling very early this morning.. He's also just a normal, but he's still very cute

The bad news is, we woke up today to find that one of his legs is broken!!

Here's what happened... last night when we were getting his bin ready, we decied to tape down the paper towels because we didn't want him crawling underneath of them and possibly suffocating himself. Well in the attempt to fix one problem, we caused another! Somehow, a small corner of the tape in one area came undone, and the little one just so happened to try to climb the wall in that area and got stuck to the tape.. We found him stuck this morning.. I carefully removed him from the tape, but because he's not even a day old and is pretty scared of people still, he wriggled around a lot and broke his arm in the process.. either that or he did it when trying to escape sometime while we were asleep


We know that all we can really do is leave him be and let him heal on his own, but it's just so sad

wow that really does suck especially because you had good intensions! hopefully the little one makes it nicely.

Thanks so much everyone, it's the first time we've had a broken limb and we just feel horrible for the little guy.. He seems to be doing better already, though. At first, he was dragging his (front left) leg behind him as he walked, but he's figured out how to position it correctly while he's laying down or standing (he leans against things).. So hopefully he'll heal just fine! Thanks again!
