got 3 young cresties earlier today at a reptils show. the breeder said they were about 8 weeks old. the 2 browny/yellow ones are about 10cm long, and the red one is about 8cm long (no idea on weights.)

all seemed fine when I added them to the tank (using a 13"by8"by8" plastic terrarium type thing,)when I added them they seemed to like each other pretty well, and basically explored the tank leaving each other alone.

however about 30 minutes ago there was a lot of squeaking, and one of the browny/yellow ones was fighting with the smaller red one.

now there were no injuries, but the other was attempting to bite its head.at the moment (keeping an eye, rather than removing straight off) they seem to be ignoring each other.

I have a smaller box set up and ready to remove the other if there are problems. if there are 2 males would it show up as a problem this early. (8weeks inst exactly old) alas as their youngsters it wasn't possible to have them sexed, but given how the one that had been arguing with the red one went on to lick the other I think it seems likely that I have 1m1f at least

sexing isnt possible at this age, males sometimes start to show pores at 5g, other times they dont show pores until 12g so calling male/female right now is simply impossible and to try and sex based on the givin situation and their actions of the moment are not exactly the correct way to sex.

I would seperate them out, put the smaller one in its own container. Although they seem fine now, there is nothing saying it wont happen again, and it may be when youre not around to break up the fight.

Even better yet keep them all seperate. Remember reptiles are not social by nature, they dont have out with one another. Usually geckos from the same clutch get along OK, but these 3 ma be from different clutches and they may simply not enjoy the company of others.

I deliberately got 3 different broods, so that if they did pair up (or even better 1m2f) there'd be less risk of inbreeding.

as far as I was aware cresties were fairly social (except that males dont like each others)

going to have them next to the bed to keep an eye on them with a spare box ready in any case.
