Got Phoenix Worms (Wish I Didn't)

So I brought home a bunch of phoenix worms from the Tampa Repticon show as a special treat and nutritional suppliment for my leos, yesterday. Too bad nobody will eat them. :main_angry: My adults completely snub their noses at them, and my 3 week hatchling (that will strike at anything that moves) took one in it's mouth twice, before spitting it out and walking away - disgusted. My adults enjoy mealies, superworms, crickets and an occasional wax or butterworm - no problem. Has anyone else had problems getting their leos to eat phoenix worms? The next thing I'll try is to cover a couple in wax worm guts - but isn't that counterproductive? Otherwise, anybody want to buy a couple hundred phoenix worms real cheap? Bob

All of my leos pass on phoenix worms. The love their dubias. I've tried phoenix worms numerous times and ended up feeding them to my BTS (who is a garbage disposal) every time.

The first (which also happened to be the last) time I offered phoenix worms to my leo, she stuck her tail up in the air, waved it around real slowly, then tried to bite at my fingers. :main_laugh:

Phoenix worms seem to be a hit & miss thing with most people. Probably explains why even though they're healthy feeders, they aren't used as staple often.

Mine won't eat 'em either. Stupidly, I continue to offer them occasionally in case she changes her mind. -_-

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I should have asked something like "how many of your geckos eat phoenix worms", before I bought the stupid things. I did get them to eat a few by rubbing them with wax worm guts, so if there's any superior nutritional value to them - they got some. Way too many and too complicated to do this on a regular basis. I bought 200 at the repticon show in Belton TX. for $6.00 because they are so high in calcium but Morgan will not even give them a second look. Morgan spits them out. I told my husband he should try them to see whats so bad about them LOL. he just gave me a funny look are you silly or what? so they sit probably just die. Maybe I'll put hem out side for the wild geckos we have here on the deck.

Completely random, but how did you guys like the Repticon show? I'm going to the Atlanta one on July 7th, but a leo breeder told me that Repticon is really overrated. I'm just going to have fun and maybe buy some cool stuff.

We bought VIP tickets but for the extra 2 bucks each to get in an hour early it's not really worth it IMHO. It was fun I was hoping to see some of the more colorful Leo's likes snows and the really pretty ones with the wild colors but at this one I would say it was 80% snakes and the rest combo of a few Leo's, turtles, dragons and a handful of Chameleons. We did pick up our awesome 90 gallon custom wood tank made locally and some cool drift wood. It does seem to be over rated but it was fun. By the afternoon it was full and a lot of people were buying pets. I'm glad I picked our 2 up at Petsmart (Our P.S. has good Leo's) the reason is because they are handled daily so they are tame when they come home and I feel good about giving them an awesome life to come. OMG are they spoiled and have such big and different personalities

Ill buy them from you! My babies love them!
We live in central TX. and is 105 now if I mail them they will die. So last night i dumped on tub outside for the birds living under or deck or the wild geckos might find them. Sorry. If you live where it is 95 or above most companies will not even ship to your address. At the repticon show WWW.Feedersource.com PH.(706-892-9869) out of GA. was there and Nathan Ramats is the person we talked to he said they do ship, they just make sure they use the appropriate amount of dry ice to keep worms at the correct temperature so you get them alive for your pets.
