Hi this is a weird observation and this is my first time with a gravid female. When I got her I wasn't ready and didn't know she was gravid so I've been spending hours observing her.
She looks to be close to laying any day now. I could not get pictures because she is uncooperative with being held that way now and I don't want to stress her. She just shed 2 nights ago and I've noticed she's been pooping..a lot. I cleaned her cage last night and this morning noticed 2 more poops. One is a little watery, but she's been drinking a lot more water lately. I did observe her last night in her lay box digging a little and she is spending more time in there now. She used to be more restless, but now seems a bit sluggish and her eggs are so big that climbing over some of the cage decoration/plants is a bit of a chore. She has refused food completely the past 3 days. Showed a little interest in a meal worm and then stuck her nose up at it.
She's in a 40 gallon terrarium by herself with a large tupperwear lay box, warm hide is at 88 degrees. Fresh water, calcium bowl, a few other hides and plants for her to feel secure. She is on paper towel substrate.
she doesn't seem interested in her calcium and it was noticeable that she needed it from the way her feet were starting to get bendy. I have been putting it on her nose for her to lick off and it seemed like she got a little stronger from it? But she's still not going for it on her own.
So she's been pooping a lot, looks like she's ready to lay any day, spending more time in the lay box, but not too much digging yet. Totally refusing food. Just shed. What should I look out for? Is this normal?
thank you
