Green Anoles

I was thinking about getting one or two. The problem is that I can't feed them crickets. Do you think they will do well in I feed them mealworms.

Wel...personally, I don't like green anoles. I have had several in the past and I usually just fed crickets with the occasional mealworm. They poop a lot so just be ready for that. And make sure that you don't get two males at the pet store, I learned that the hard way. Good Luck!

I used to keep some in a 10 gallon when I lived in Florida. I was just a kid, but it was a very exciting thing. I fed them baby grasshoppers and whatever little bugs I could scoop up, because that is what they were eating in the "wild" (which was my yard from which I caught them). You can't really tame them. One day I came home from school to mist them and clean up their tank. I found an egg and carried it into the house to place in a jar. It actually ended up hatching in my hand, and then I had a baby anole hopping all over the kitchen. I ended up just letting it go in the yard. It was a surreal experience. One thing to remember- they need a very humid atmosphere. They dry up very quickly- I remember finding many little mummies whenever we would move or rearrange furniture. (They would get in our house w/out us knowing.)

Here in South Florida we used to have more of the green anoles, the browns are much more aggressive and have in many areas displaced the greens. They would most likely do better in captivity, much less moody. We have some really orange ones with some red patterning, here's a quick shot of a decent guy out in the back yard...

? Don't know. The wild ones will snatch them quick.

My girlfriend has a Greeny and says it wont eat mealies. I have 2 and have never tried, but I doubt mine would be much different. I'd stick with crix if at all possible.
