Hello I'm Marios. I live in Greece. I own a few animals a female Python Breitensteini and a male Python Curtus. 1 unsexed Cyclosternum Fasciatum,1 unsexed albino Pacman frog and a Big Eye Tree Frog.

I am interested to buy a Gecko but I'm not the kind of guy who likes using uva and uvb lightning so I would like to now which species do not need this kind of lightning.

Some ppl told me they need some others not.

So I'm confused.

Also I've heard a guy had a Crested Gecko without a lamp and he only gave him for food cream. No insects. He didn't like buying live feeders. And he told me that a crested can live its whole life by eating cream. Is that true?

I have cresties, and don't use UVA or UVB on them myself. They are nocturnal and so do not require it (at least, that is the general consensus). And yes, they can subsist on a diet of only "food cream", in the hobby it's referred to as crested gecko diet. This is what my cresties eat, and so far I have had not a problem. Every once in a while I will go out and get them insects from the store as a treat, but other than that its just the CGD. Hope this helps :)

And damn that helped ;)

Ok so crested gecko diet is a product? Or a general term for this kind of food.

Cuz I'm not sure if I have seen that here in Greece.

I read that baby cream isn't good cuz cresteds become addicted to sugar and then it's hard to make them eat something different.

So I think there is not any substance either.

Crested gecko diet is the type of food they get fed. Usually comes in powdered form. I get mine from Pangea Reptile. Baby cream isn't good. It isn't nutritionally formulated for geckos (duh :p) and so they could have potential health problems on it. If you can't find CGD anywhere you live (try some of your local pet stores) I recommend buying it online. Its what I do, and so long as I always know when I need to order more (usually I order a few weeks in advance), I don't find myself without it.

Ok great info there. You helped me a lot bro ;)

I'll let you know if I grab any gecko

Sweet. Yeah, I'll be interested in know what you get. Either cresties, or their close relative the gargoyle gecko, make very good first geckos. Actually, my cresties were my first reptile in total, and I love all three of them. Cutest little buggars on the face of the planet :D

Yeah I saw gargoyles they're great too!
Can they live with CGD?

I've never seen a gargoyle gecko here in Greece.

Do you guys have any breeder shipping to europe?

Except this guy from Pangea. Cuz shipping for Greece is high..... :main_thumbsdown:

What about Komodo Premium Crested Gecko Diet is there any thread that compares these two? It's cheaper and might be easier to find it for me.

And what about T-Rex diet?

Yes. Because gargs and cresties both come from the same family, they both eat nearly the same things. In fact, care for a garg is nearly identical to that of a crestie.

I'm not sure if there are any garg or crestie breeders near where you live, but I imagine some of the members on this site that live on that side of the world may know. I lucked out, I was able to get my three cresties at a reptile expo.

Personally, I've only used Pangea, but I have heard those two are fine. You'd have to see what others say about it though.

Kind of searched the net about those 3.

Repashy is said to be the best one and the most tasty for geckos along with T-Rex.

Komodo is said to be a little bit bitter and some geckos after the 1st lick they ain't touching it again.

We have reptile shops here, but I've only see cresties.

Another thing, I will buy a male and a female for breeding reasons in future, but I read that gargoyles have problems when housed together because of their aggression, even when housing pairs.

And I wanna house my geckos together, should I consider that a lot and look for cresties instead?

A guy from a reptile shop told me that baby powder is not wrong to use it, and that other stuff is just waste of money.

I told him that the sugar that they contain is not good for the health of a gecko, and he told me that there are podwer creams without sugar in it.

What do you guys think?
