Hello everyone!
Just stumbled across the facebook ad of this new forum for geckos so I thought I'd join up. I'm fairly new at the pet gecko owner thing. Surprisingly enough my family and I ended up with our first gecko purely by chance or luck as it seems. We hadn't even considered the possibility of owning anything other than a cat till about a year ago when we found a leopard gecko roaming loose in a party supply store. We assumed it had escaped from the Petco next door but they denied the animal was theirs so we adopted it, sadly not knowing anything about the animal but we were determined to help the little critter. My family rescues stray cats all the time.. whats a stray lizard into the bunch right?
Long story short Anavi as we called her, didn't make it. According to the vet (the only one in our area that does reptiles) she was pretty ill considering the circumstances in which she was found. Though we did everything per instruction to save her, it was a little too late to turn her condition around. Anavi had grown on my family so when she passed we knew right away that our home was no longer just a cats only household. A gecko was now needed to complete it again.
After researching more on them and shopping around I eventually found another leopard gecko for the family. We've had Myouz or Mr. Salty as my husband calls him for about a year now, and he's spoiled rotten. I refer to him as the lizard king as he rules the house from his tank. I was hoping to find a friendlier forum than the last I was on to chat and discuss things I'm still unsure about. This place definitely looks very promising so far. I can't wait to meet a few of the others here and hope to be a regular.
