While we're on the subject, what's the best for crickets? And what about water?

I've been using slices of apples and that seems to be going okay, but then I found these "Yummies! Cricket Feeders" at ******** and gave them a try. I don't think the crickets are enjoying them very much, or it isn't enough nutrients, cause they seem to be dieing off slowly.

Crickets die all the time. Much faster than most other feeders. I use water crystals for all my feeders that need water. I also use veggi crystals for veggies.

I will also be making a new feeder product as well. FEEDER BARS. All organic and made with the best ingredients. Tons of good stuff, one of the best gutloads I have found to date. Will be a great gutload product for all feeders.

Not many people use Locast over here in the states. They seem to be popular over in Europe. Is that where you are? There are a few Eurpopean breeders here they might be able to answer your question. Good luck.

For crix I use that gel water stuff from Flukers.

For mealies, I just give them carrots because it attracts fewer fruit flies.
Though, I have been told that you cant actually "gut load" mealworms.

The crix like carrots too, but their main diet is Flukers cricket chow.

putting fruit an veg in the tubs also make them smell nice :p

im sure it does work, if they are eating the carrot an then the vitimans in the carrots are in the mealworms then the gecko eats them, they are also getting the vitimans, i would think anyways :main_laugh:

NO! dont do that!
Just keep putting those vegies in there for them. They have all the moisture those mealies need.
To much water will cause mold and rot.

I use the same diet for crickets and mealworms. It consists of Bran, pulverized chicken mash & premium dog food. Carrots, oranges, or apples are used for moisture as well as a chick water bowl with paper towels or cotton on the bowl so crickets don’t drown. Bowl is only used for crickets and must be cleaned every couple of days to prevent odor. We’ve been breeding our own feeders for 15 years and our reptiles have always been very healthy. Chicken mash and Bran can be purchased at most livestock feed stores. Bran and chicken mash is pulverized once a month in a food processor. Hopefully this helps.

Good Luck
