What happens if you don't gut load the food before you feed em to your gecko?

What side effects will the leo have over time if fed with non gut loaded food?

When i first started in the hobby at 14 years old i knew nothing about gut loading and i simply went to the local pet shop and purchased crickets and meal worms as needed for years and years on end. just enough for what i needed from week to week and i know the pet shops dont really gut load them they just use the water gel and whatever cricket food that was being sold in the store in small dishes. i dont really consider that a good gut load. but i fed my animals like that for years and got breeding and they all lived long healthy lives. i think personally its just added nutrients for them to be past on to your animals. Once i discovered what gut loading was i re searched all types of different ways and now gut loading is a major part of my routine with my animals.

I have never read any actual fact that there is or is not a negative effect effect to not gut loading but i mean think of it this way. you are what you eat. and if you give them nothing they will pass on nothing.
