Hey guys,

What do you use to gut load your crickets, mealworms, superworms, roaches or any other feeder insect?

I just chuck in a piece of apple or a vege of some kind.

I keep my mealworms and beetles both in the gutload from Pro Geckos. It's the best! I also add some vionate to it. Every other day, I add carrots for moisture. This has worked really well for me and I get plump mealworms to feed daily.

I use chicken mash/meal for crickets, mealies, and supers. I buy a 50lbs bag of it for $15 from the farm feed store. For water I buy water gel in its crystal form and make it up as I need the gel. I use distilled, RO, or bottled water to make the gel. To water them I place the gel on lids in the containers I keep them in.

I use gutloat from Pro Geckos also. I usually use potatoes for moisture. I never thought to add vionate to the gutload. I use vionate and never feel like it sticks to the worms but adding it to gutload is a great idea. Thanks

I keep every feeder I have Mealworms, Supers and Roaches on Pro Geckos Gutload. For moisture I use water crystals for the roaches and throw in cantalope, apples, carrots and potatoes for added moisture. For the worms I use carrots for moisture.

I have been throwing in some calf starter formula with crushed dog food for my roaches. and the geckos have been growing great for the past few months, I was buying roach chow from a few of the online guys but couldnt afford 5lbs a month so I did a controlled experiment with collonies of 100 and found no difference in growth between the diet and the dog food (Retriever High Protien), the calf starter is like deydrated creamer, only it loaded with goodies, for baby calves (tractor supply). for their veggies oranges, melons, grape fruit and now pumpkins which are going to be my final choice, free!!!!! and I froze well over 150lbs to make it till next fall.

I also dust with cal, and vit powder weekly.
Next experiment:
I was going to try to add some roti-rich or super selco to my water crystals, hopefully the particulate size is small enough to be taken in. I did some aquaculture reasearch with brine shrimp back in college and the stuff is magical for fish larvaculture.
