Ah my Zev has laid her first eggs this morning - around 5am-ish. I got one question, I have everything all set, but now, almost 2 hours after she has laid her eggs and they were removed, she is still digging up a storm in the tank. She has emptied all the calcium out of the calcium dish and nearly ripped up the paper towel all where she laid her eggs? Is she thinking she's still burying them or is she looking for them? I've tried looking this up online and have yet to find anything about a digging spree just hours after laying.
I even moved the calcium dish away from where she was digging, but she found her way over to it and started digging in it again. she's still snffing the place where she laid her eggs too.

thanks in advance,
Rie

I had a female that dug for almost a whole day after she layed her eggs, then stopped. She has layed several more clutches since then, but hasn't repeated that behavior.

I had this very same question awhile back: http://www.geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=18977

All of our females do this after they lay, they seem to dig and dig for hours on end, long after the eggs are removed. I think she is looking for them.. They honestly do seem to be upset/angry that their eggs are gone. I can say that I've only seen this happen when we took the eggs away immediately (we usually take the eggs away right after they are laid), but we don't always see the female lay. The times when the eggs were taken much later, the female didn't react as strongly to them missing..
