Hey you guys, I'm new here and new to owning a leopard gecko. I've had him (?) for about month now and anytime i try to pick him up he runs from me, repeatedly bites and hisses at me. I don't necessarily need him to love being picked up but it would be nice if he at least tolerated it. Is my best course of action to just keep trying?

What are your thoughts?

Your best hope is to have your gecko make a link between you and food or water. For me, as soon as i started removing my female leo (she was about 10 months at the time)to a seperate container to feed her she saw me as a way to get to food. Before, she was really skiddish and jumpy but now she tolerates me and will even walk over to my hand and climb onto it.
