Handling time

Sorry if this has been hashed out before, I did a search but was unable to find an answer to my question.

Since Leopard Gecko’s are nocturnal; what do you guys do about handling them? Do most people wait until night time to disturb them or do you pick them up any time of the day/night?

I usually handle mine at night or first thing in the morning. I usually don't disturb them while they sleep. Occasionally, one will saunter about in mid-day but I don't take them out, just talk to them! :D

I only hold mine about 5-15 mins a night after work. I don't handle my new ones yet, they are still only a few incehs long.

If they are up and around it would be ok. leopards are like cats. they nap all the time...

I work all day, so I usually get Pedro out in the evening after dinner. He's actually lounging on my shoulder right now. I hold him for however long he lets me. If he finds a comfortable place on me to hang out, then he stays for a while. But I put him back if he seems too squirmy or acts like he isn't comfortable. He also seems to know that I'm going to feed him when I get home. I plunk a mealie down in front of his hide and he comes running out of it.

even if mine are not up and about I hold them whenever I feel like it. They don't have jobs, they can catch up on sleep whenever.

Hmm...I wouldn't do that. I will only handle my geckos when they aren't sleeping. How would you like it if someone wake you up several times a night daily, just because they feel like it?

We handle ours around 8 pm, he's out sometimes for near an hour. Seems fine?

i was kinda joking. I work all day so I leave them alone and I usually don't just snatch them up if they were asleep. Mine are all pretty active at random times, so most don't seem to mind attention at any time of day.

i take mine out when she sits on her one hide and looks up, it usually means she wants to come out for a bit. Its almost always right around dinner time but the other day i took her out in the middle of the day. i dont handle my other one, its very small and too young for me to try.
