Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for all
the helpful advise and friendly conversation. This has been a great forum,
and a nice bunch of people.

As you are enjoying your Holiday, please remember all the many who are
less fortunate than us and also try to do something nice for our service men and women stationed in the Middle East, with a contribution, or anything
to help them out. Anything you can do will mean alot to them as the Holiday
season can be particularly depressing.

I just realized that I now have over 1000 posts, so I thought it fitting to
add a little info and bio about myself so I'm no longer such a mystery man :D

Cheers :)

So, what is everyone going to have for dinner tomorrow (I'm hungry and thinking about food right now! :main_laugh:).

Do you have something that's a family tradition?
Ours is fresh oysters :main_thumbsup:

We always go to my oldest Brother's place, since he has a larger house, and
my Mom makes a broccoli and cheese casserole every year.

So our menu is pretty much the same every year; turkey, oysters, stuffing, sweet potatoes, etc, etc. :)

Oysters, huh? Very interesting :)

We had our own dinner last night, which I suppose is the only tradition we really have. Every year, Mike and I will spend Thanksgiving at one of our parents' places, but we also like to do a dinner of our own at our own place. Thanksgiving food is just so good, we like to eat it more than once :) This was our 5th year doing this, and it was great :) We had a very nice turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, rolls, corn, green beans, deviled eggs, and some cheesecake for dessert. Normally we have a few friends over to help us eat everything, but this year noone could make it. We now have tons of leftovers to eat, and will be eating at Mike's parents' place tomorrow :)

Ummm, that sounds great :main_yes:

I actually like to have plenty of left overs, esp the turkey and stuffing. Great for late night TV snacks :main_yes:

Yep, Maryland is famous for crabs, but we also have nice oysters, and they
are very popular here.

I love them raw, with lots of fresh Frence bread, sweet butter, and wine :main_yes:

Yes, leftovers are the best, I just ate some stuffing myself :D The turkey can make some good soup or sandwiches too :main_yes:

I've always wanted to go to Maryland, I am very fond of crab but not the biggest fan of oysters. My parents would love some oysters though, and my mom was born in Maryland :)

I don't know what I am going to have. Cause I used to go to my aunt's where all we had was kale and other "greens" (this isn't literal, but very close to it) because it is "Good for the eyes."
Hopefully this year it is all fattening foods!

Jess, I bet you would like them the way I cook them for the family.
I dip them in batter, like a "fritter" batter that puffs up a bit when cooked.
Then I deep fry them. :main_yes:
They are served w/ lemon wedges or you can dip them in tartar sauce, or (my favorite) melted and clarified sweet butter. :main_yes:
