Really? C'mon, folks! Over 17,000 members.... Someone is, knows, or is related to a veteran.

Give 'em up! Even if its just listing their name, rank and branch.

Without our vets, where would we be? :army:

Prior U.S. Army - 1985 through 1989 - 267th Sig. Co., 73rd Sig. Bn., 2nd Sig. Brigade, 5th Signal Command - Info

I was fighting the "Cold War", which I'm sure few remember. After discharge, I worked for the military as a civilian contractor until 1998. I have the utmost respect for everyone that wears/wore the uniform. God Speed!

Happy Veteran's Day :) Prior service Army here. Only in for a year though, I was injured in a training exercise and Uncle Sam gave me the combat boot out the door. I loved it and miss it. Now I work for the Federal Government :)

I want to express my gratitude to anyone that has served or is serving now.

If you all pass a soldier in uniform, say "thank you" to him or her.

My friend Justin Torres is in Afganistan on a 400-day tour, which started back in september. He told me his whole rank and stuff but the way they say it is so confusing to me I just stood there like, huh.. come again? All I know is that he's a paratrooper.
LONG time until I see him again :(

My grandfather which I never met and my boyfriends father are Vietnam vets.

Oh my.... 400 days is such a long time.
We'll keep him in our prayers, LizMarie. I hope you get to hear from him and he returns home safely.

I've spoken to him a few times via facebook a few times. He loves it out there while all his friends are praying for him back in the states he talks about all the fun he's having. He's a weird like that, lol.

He promised when he comes back we're going to lunch, back to the first place we met so it can be like time never passed. Corny I know, lol.

Oh where to start...

A long, long time ago, my great grandfather served as a cavalryman in WWI. My mom's dad served in the US Navy in the Pacific, mostly on an escort carrier. One or two of his brothers were also in the navy. My mom's mom was an Army Air Corps nurse and served in France for most of her time. Her two brothers were in the Coast Guard, and one served clean up duty after the invasion of Normandy. My dad's dad was listed as signal corps, though unofficially he was OSS and helped in setting up radio and supply stations. The day after he left on a ship for New York, orders arrived for him to go to Nuremberg to serve as a prosecutor for the Allies in the trials. My mom's brother spent time in the Air Force, and his son spent time in the Navy. My best friend through high school is now Air National Guard. A few of my other friends have also joined various branches, and a guy that I'm friends with but am not super close has done multiple tours in Afghanistan, and is home due to a broken foot.

I'm a bit of a hippie, but I've considered joining the military since 6th grade, and still do. I proudly support anybody who is willing to fight for their country, regardless of how I feel about that country. It's so important to support veterans, and I think recent occurrences make that especially clear. Thanks to anybody who has served, is serving, or will serve.
