Are you talking about the stuff you use to wrap your pipes in so they don't freeze in the winter?

Something like this? I don't see why not. Just put it on a thermostat and closely monitor it before using on animals.

The one you posted has a built in thermostat... nice deal for the $$. I'd consider adding a couple of probe thermometers just to make sure you're getting consistant temperature around the coil area.

Great idea, Ill make sure to do that if this is what I decide to do, but im kinda wanting the ultratherm, but the price tag might not be doable. But hey, my birthday is Christmas, so maybe I can get some for a present:main_thumbsup:

It was a good suggestion Ryan :)

@King... you'd be surprised where you can get the ultratherm at a similar price (around $35.00) plus shipping

Now what I find odd is they say T-Rex brand cobra heat mat but the package they show int he picture is the ultratherm box and ultratherm wattages per size ratios. The 6x11 T-Rex cobra is 7 watt whereas the 6x11 ultratherm cobra is 12 watts. I'd be sure to clear it with the seller before ordering. If they say it's the one in the pic, a 30-40 gallon for $15 bucks, I'm getting one for my son's ball's tank... maybe 2 :main_thumbsup:

Just an FYI, I have the cobra brand (it comes in a flaming box, you'd know it if you saw it) on a 20 long the 6x11 7 watt and just checked his temps, it says 98 foor temp and the house temp is 61*F.

I got my T-Rex brand cobra here:

Had I known then what I know now about the differences I'd have def. gotten the ultratherm brand cobra insted :main_yes:

Check out beanfarm.com for ultratherms, they were the best prices I found when I was looking for one for my 75g tank
