Only reason i don't do it is getting it snug to sides of tank is hard work especially if you have to take it in and out to clean you may damage it. If you don't get it snug your food may escape (crickets mealworms roaches). With landings and small second floors (which 2 of my geckos have turned into a poop area) what i did was quickly put a small tile on poop area. I notice with what is used for my backgrounds tends to wear away with a real harsh scrubbing. Does fine with spot cleans and vinegar and water but to lay into it i wore a spot. Hopefully model 2.0 will be perfection on a harsh scrub. Basically background and landings are nice climbing resting areas but all the dirt grime poop bodies of small insects floor bound so what ever you make has got to hold up to all that plus not let any of it seep in. Glass will not take in a smell, plastic, acrylic, some foams (ever thrown out a fridge for a bad smell) imagine your nifty hours of work floor that you only had in for 4 months before THE SMELL!
