So our story goes we bought Fred, fred was obviously sick and not eating. We returned him 2 weeks later and got Chico.

Well Chico was the nice thick one of hte bunch and was about to shed when we got him. Well he did indeed shed last night!! It was amazing to watch him, then he ate it! ha. But I was wondering, his moist hide was there all nice and moist just waiting for him and he had nothing to do with it. Didn't even think about going in it. He rather push up against his hot and cold hide and push on the paper towel instead of the moist hide which from my understanding would have helped him a great deal.

Does anyone elses Gecko not go in the moist hide? Will he be fine without going in it? I assume we can just put him in a little bit of water to help with the shed that hasn't come off on his toes?

He pretty much did take care of it all tho and he looks soooo beautiful and bright now :) I felt so bad for him when he was pushing it off his nose, I just wanted to help hte little guy lol. So CUTE!! :D

Anyway I just had that one question about the moist hide. Kinda wondered the point of it if he's not going to use it at all? and is it a big deal if he doesn't use it?

I've only seen my leos use their moist hides once. Any other time they just rub up against other hides in their tanks but I still keep the moist hide moist when they look ready to shed so the option is always there.

My rocks stays in his moist hide. He very rarely goes to the cool side of his enclosure. I think this is how he is shedding without me knowing or seeing anything.

Yeah we're keeping it in there, I"m just wondering how common it is that they even use it? He got that shed off without it. Didn't even attept to enter it lol. Not even a rub up against it.

Was neat to watch his little body shed tho. So cute!

My little girl prefers her cool/moist hide over her warm/dry hide any day of the week. The people I originally got her from didn't have a cool/moist hide available, but as soon as I put it in her tank she ran in, shed, then decided to stay in that one heh. :p (and yeah, she is a little weird preferring her moist hide to be on the cooler end instead of the warmer warmer end where I originally put it...oh well) And actually, now that I think about it, I'm going to go experiment a bit and see if I can find out if it's just the hide she likes or if it's the temp.

Apparently she just prefers the hide that I keep moist over the other hide, doesn't matter where I put it :D

I can barely get my male out of his humid hide!
He's in there all the time!

I don't have a humid hide for Joplin (my SHTCTB), I just mist the paper towel under her warm hide, but I left the container for a humid hide in her cage and she much prefers the empty humid hide to her warm hide.
Her humid hide is on the warm side of her cage.

Cotten will use both. I've noticed with her, she spends her days sleeping in her warm hide, then she comes out at night, and then in the morning she hangs out in her humid hide before she goes to bed.
