Ok this might get a little confusing ill try my best to explain:

Im getting a 56 gal(uk) for 3-4 leopard geckos... the majority being females and 1 male

i will have a persplex seperation for the male until there mature or i decide to breed

the tank size is 36"L x 24"W x 18"H... Height being irrelivant at this point...

Ok the minimum size is a 10gallon for a gecko...being 10"by 20"

i was going to put my persplex at 10"L so there is 26" left for the females...

And it will still be 24" W

LOL thats the hard bit

so will i get a heat mat that stretches the 36" LENGTH? or should i get two seperate heat matts?

One person advised me to put it on the back wall on the outside of the glass stretching the whole length.. but i thought it was better underneath of digestion etc?

anyway let me know your thoughts and ideas

I was debating this as well as I just got a 70 gallon tank. The thought that I've come up with is to put the heat mat on the end I intend to use as the warm side when the tank isn't partitioned, however when the male is seperate, put a heat pad under his side, but not stick it to the tank, just somehow prop is up (if that makes sense). That way I can remove the heat pad, and I can use it for any babies that arise.
