heat tape?

hey all!
so, i've been thinking about building my own terrarium for a couple months. and after letting it simmer in there, and perusing this forum for stealable ideas, i think i've got it all worked out. except for one thing- heat tape. i have never actually seen or used this, but have heard it mentioned many times on this forum. can anyone point me (or link me) to the right website? is it basically the same thing as heat cable, just flat?
after searching the net for it, all i ever find is heat tape that is designed to keep pipes from freezing, and i would have no idea what wattage to get, plus they have built-in shut-offs to prevent the pipe from getting too hot.

thanx all!

heat tapes such as the FlexWatt is the best way to go. It is so much easier to use and you are only limited to the size that you 'cut' were as the UTH (Under Tank Heater) is only available in certain sizes and there is really no true way that you can control the temp on it.

The only draw back with the heat tape is that you have to purchase (additional $$) a separate thermostat to control the temp, not a draw back really........you have complete control of the temp. Again there are several types and on-line retailers to choose from.

Good Luck on your decision.
