well i have a homemade rack system currently heated with flexwatt. i want to get rid of the flexwatt and use heat wire like my ap racks are heated. the lowes and home depots sell heat wire that is used to stop pipes from freezing in the winter and have a built in thermostat. that themostat has to be cold for the wire to heat up. where can i get heat wire with out a built in thermostat???? Thanks Kirk

I use heat cable, which seems the same as heat wire. You can buy it online from reptile suppliers, or from your local PetsMart. I think it is about $30 for 23 feet. I use a dimmer rheostat I built with two plug connections so they are heated the same. I have two thermometers, one for each lenght of cable, to make sure the temps are in the correct range.
