Heat ?

About temps on the warm side and cold side ,I understand what they should be. The ? I have is: If I put the temp probe inside the hide I get a reading of 91 -92. If i put the probe outside the hide 1 inch away ,but still on the warm side it says 78 and its still on the floor. That is a huge difference. what should I go with/ Thanks .Jeff

What type of heat source are you using?

i would get a UTH..sounds like you are using a light, if not, that is weird

First of all its a plastic cage like. Its thicker than glass. The UTH is exo-terra 11x17. The thermostat is Helix. Since my last posting it has time to sit more. Inside the hide is 91 now using the Helix probe. The other probe like i said still 1 inch away but just outside the hide is 83. If I make the flooring outside the hides on the warm side I'm afraid the inside of the hides would be 100. No where in cage does it feel warm to the hand though. I've in close a picture

Heats/Temps Diff??

OK, help me out here......I look at your photo...can see wires. the one has a probe on it. I assume the brownish thing next to it is the moist hide you speak of.......I can not tell if the probe end is just sitting on the (appears carpet) or do you have it "tucked" under the hide? will record different.....lower if not tucked. Try tucking it and see if that comes nearer to your inside temp. Mine always do. Take care. HJ

Jeff, I reread where you say, "The other probe like i said still 1 inch away but just outside the hide is 83." ....Other probe meaning two probes and two different temp. gauges?.....guessing thats a no. take care. HJ
