Heating behind rack instead of below

Hello everyone.

I am very much aware how heating from below is ideal for leopard geckos and that is how I currently have setup my terrariums with UTH. However I am trying to come up with a solution to better accommodate hatchlings in something similar to a rack system. Here in Portugal there is no Flexwatt so it becomes hard to heat all racks from below so I was wondering if using heat cable behind the racks would still provide a healthy habitat and temperature gradient. Is it possible?
The heat cables are too thick in order to be used beneath rack drawers, so placing it behind would be the best option I can think of, if it can provide enough heat.

Some thoughts and help with this would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Only if you have so much heat behind the rack that the back floor is 90-f. Post a pic of your setup and we can try to help.

Can you cut grooves/notches in fhe shelves?? = top of the heat cable flush with the top of the shelf..

I can get the back wall of the racks beyond those temperatures but the floor doesn't reach that high although it sure does increase temperature.

I'm afraid in this setup it's not possible to cut grooves or notches in the shelves. These are stackable plastic shelves and the way they are made if cut grooves on the floor or top it will cause problems in the shelve functioning.
